Buyers/Sellers - My Account


Forgot your password

You can retrieve your password by clicking the Forgot Password link on the Buyadate.org homepage, and following the instructions. You will need to enter the email address, and answer your security question, that we have on file for your account. We'll then email your password to that email address.


Changing your password

- Sign in to your Buyadate.org account.
- Click the 'My Account' tab located on the top menu bar.
- Click the 'Account Settings' tab located in the submenu.
- Click on 'Change Password' option.
- Follow the instructions for changing your password, and answer your security question, and click 'Submit'. You can now log in using your new password.


Date Manager

Date Manager allows you to view key information for all your dates currently being offered on Buyadate.org including current price, number of bids, and current high bidder. For upcoming dates already sold, you will be able to view information about your buyer, the details of the date you sold, what the buyer paid for the date, and any additional information that was negotiated.

You can choose to see all dates you're selling, or just those that are with bids or with offers. To manage your dates:
- Sign in to your Buyadate.org account.
- Click the 'My Account' tab located on the top menu bar.
- Click the 'Date Manager' tab located in the submenu.

You can use the Date Manager feature to:
- Revise the details or availability of your date listing
- Edit the description of your date listing
- Sell a similar date starting with the details of previously sold date
- End a date listing early

Managing dates you've sold

You can view information about your date listings that ended in a successful sale including the buyer, sale price, date paid (or awaiting payment), and when the date took place, or will take place. You can select the date range using the menu in the upper right corner of the view.

Managing unsold dates

You can view information about your date listings that did not end in a successful sale including the title, number of bids, high bid, and end date on the Unsold Dates view. These dates may have received no bids, not received bids meeting your reserve price, or not sold for another reason. To select the date range, use the menu in the upper right corner of the view. To make another attempt to sell an unsold date, click relist.

Editing your date listing

To change your listing:
- Sign in to your Buyadate.org account.
- Click the 'My Account' tab located on the top menu bar.
- Click the 'Date Manager' tab located in the submenu.
- For each listing you want to revise, click the 'Dates' or 'Availability' tab, then highlight the date you wish to edit and click the 'Edit Selected Date' button. Note: You must first 'Add a Date' before you can Edit Availability.
- On the 'Edit Date' page, you can make your changes.
- Click the 'Submit' button.

Ending an auction listing early

If you cannot complete your auction style listing as planned, you can end your listing before the scheduled date. Reasons for ending listings early include: the date is no longer available for sale, or there was an error in the listing. If there are bids on your date, you can cancel them. Remember also, it is always entirely up to the seller whether or not to accept any request or bid for the offered date.

To end your auction listing early:
- Sign in to your Buyadate.org account.
- Click the 'My Account' tab located on the top menu bar.
- Click the 'Date Manager' tab located in the submenu.
- Highlight the auction listing you want to end early,
- If your auction listing has no bids, you can simply click the 'Remove Selected Date' button.
- If there are already bids on your auction listing, then click the 'Edit Selected Date' button, and
- On the 'Edit Date' page, select the 'End auction listing early' option.
- Choose between: 'Cancel all bids and end listing early' or 'Sell date to highest bidder and end listing early'.
- You may also enter a reason you're ending your listing early.
- Your auction listing will end and will no longer be listed on your profile page. And the highest bidder will be emailed that their bid has been canceled.
- Click the 'Submit' button.


Responding to date requests

Date Requests are sent by interested member buyers. You can view Date Requests at your Message Center page.

After you receive a Date Request, you can:
- Accept the offer, enter negotiations, or request additional information.
- Decline the request if you are not interested in the date or buyer.


Account Summary

Your account summary history, transaction details and billing activity can be found at your Account Summary page. To view your summary:
- Sign in to your Buyadate.org account.
- Click the 'My Account' tab located on the top menu bar.
- Click the 'Account Summary' tab located in the submenu.

When viewing your Account Summary, you'll see your current balance as of the date you're viewing the information. Clicking any of the itemized dates will show you any transaction details and billing activity associated with that date. You can also select the date range for which you would like to view the transaction history.

Your Account Summary activity also contains the following areas:
- Date: shows the calendar day on which the date was purchased/sold.
- Title: shows a brief description of the date which was purchased/sold, or disbursement.
- Name/Email: shows the name or email of the buyer/seller.
- Payment Type: shows the method by which the date was paid.
- Status: shows the status of date payment as complete or pending.
- Details/Sale ID: click on the Sale ID for more in depth date description and transaction details. - Amount: the price associated with the date which was purchased/sold.
- Balance: the running total for the date range displayed. Your account balance is the amount of money you have been paid by buyers, but that you have not yet withdrawn from your Buyadate.org account.

You can sort your account activity by date, title, name/email, or amount. The arrow appears after each sort option allows you to sort in ascending or descending order. You can also highlight any particular date and then click the 'View Transaction Details' button, to view more specific date information.


Funds disbursement and preference

Whenever a link "Transfer funds to your account" appears, you can make a disbursement of accumulated funds in your Buyadate.org account to your bank account (free of any processing fees). You have several additional options available for receiving funds from your Buyadate.org account, although depending on the disbursement method you select, you may be charged a processing fee.

You can set your disbursement preference from your My Account, Preferences option, any time after registration. After you make your selection, all disbursements will be paid to you using your preferred option. See Payment Center for more information on the payment cycle and disbursement methods.


Editing payment method

You can set your accepted payment methods from the My Account tab any time after registration. You can choose between accepting payments through credit or debit card, Paypal, Google Checkout, E-check, or Escrow. See Payment Center for more information on payment methods.


My Donations

My Donations is an aggregate report of the profit sharing donations you've made through Buyadate.org dates. On your My Account page, choose the Account Summary tab, where you can select to view My Donations- which gives you the culmination of how much money you have donated through Buyadate.org, as well as the option to list all the individual donations you've made, over a given selection of time. You can also view transaction details or print receipts for any or all of your donations (for tax deduction purposes).

You can also highlight any particular date and then click the 'View Transaction Details' button, to view more specific date information.


Notification settings

Notification settings allow you to indicate if you would like to be notified about your date listings activity and requests. You can select if you want email notifications whenever a member buyer requests a date or asks a question. You can also setup your notification settings to remind you about upcoming scheduled dates and times.


Privacy and safety settings

Buyadate.org has developed a number of safety features and settings to protect users from unwanted contact and allow control over the privacy of personal profiles, including:

Privacy Settings

Adjust your privacy settings to match your level of comfort. Buyadate.org allows you to have control over your information and who sees it. You choose what information you put in your profile, including contact and personal information, pictures, interests and groups you join. We provide you with the privacy tools necessary to control how and with whom you share that information. You can also create a limited profile to hide certain parts of your profile.

You control the users with whom you share your information through the privacy settings on your member page. To adjust your privacy settings, follow these steps:
- Sign in to your Buyadate.org account.
- Click the 'My Account' tab located on the top menu bar.
- Click the 'Account Settings' tab located in the submenu.
- Click the 'Privacy/ Safety Preferences' option.
- Select your preferred privacy setting, or limited profile setting.
- Click the 'Submit' button.

Pre-approve comments

The default setting for comments on Buyadate.org profiles does not require comments to be approved prior to appearing on your profile. To change your settings so you can approve comments before they are posted:
- Sign in to your Buyadate.org account.
- Click the 'My Account' tab located on the top menu bar.
- Click the 'Account Settings' tab located in the submenu.
- Select 'Comment Preferences' option.
- In the Comments section select 'Require approval before comments are posted'.
- Click the 'Submit' button.

Block another user

If a user that you do not know or want to interact with contacts you, you have the ability to block them from future contact. Also, if you feel this person may be a threat to yourself or others, immediately notify law enforcement and report the user to Buyadate.org through the 'Contact Us' link at the bottom of every page. To block a user from contacting you, go to the user's page and under their profile picture click on the 'Block User' link. A pop-up window will appear asking you if you are sure you want to block this user. Click 'Ok.' to confirm.

Turn off the 'online now' status icon

Don't want people to know when you're on Buyadate.org? Turn off the 'online now' status icon so other users can't see when you're on the site and when you're not. To conceal your 'online now' status:
- Sign in to your Buyadate.org account.
- Click the 'My Account' tab located on the top menu bar.
- Click the 'Account Settings' tab located in the submenu.
- Click the 'Privacy/ Safety Preferences' option.
- Select No in the field 'Allow users to see when I am online'.
- Click the 'Submit' button.


Message Center

The Message Center is where you can send and receive all your Buyadate.org correspondences. You can organize messages by time and type, mark as read or unread, and see and reply to private messages, friend requests, date requests and negotiations.

Inbox: Your Inbox is where you receive all new messages and alerts. To view a message, double click on the subject of the message. From there, you can respond to the message. When you respond to a message, Buyadate.org delivers a copy of the message to the recipient's Message Center (and to their registered email address if they have chosen to also receive a copy there).

Deleting messages

You can delete any messages you no longer need. Select the checkbox next to the message you want to delete, and click the Delete button.


Types of messages in the Message Center

You can receive two types of messages your Message Center:

Alerts: Only Buyadate.org can send you alerts. Alerts appear at the top of the Message Center and contain important information about your account that requires your immediate attention. You cannot delete an alert until you've read or acted upon it, or the specified time has passed.

Messages: Messages contain information which may be sent by Buyadate.org or by other Buyadate.org members. You can delete messages whenever you want.


Suspended account

There are two reasons why Buyadate.org may suspend an account:
1. Serious violations of Buyadate.org's Terms of Use or Community Guidelines.
2. Non-payment of Buyadate.org purchase to a member seller.

Members who are suspended are prohibited from registering new accounts with Buyadate.org, or bidding or selling on Buyadate.org using any existing accounts. The email and notice sent by Buyadate.org will usually contain instructions about how to reinstate your account. Because the details causing account suspension can vary greatly, specific instructions on how to resolve your particular issue will be outlined in the notice. If no instructions appear, please Contact Us.

If you do not know why you were suspended or if for some reason you do not receive a notice, Contact Us for more information. If you would like to appeal your suspension, please include any relevant information and reply directly to the suspension notice or Contact Us.

When your account is suspended, Buyadate.org will send a notification to the registered email address associated with your account. This email will also appear in your Message Center.

Important: Beware of impostor email. If you received an email stating your account was suspended, please confirm that the email was sent from Buyadate.org by checking your Message Center. If the email message you received is not located in your Message Center, proceed with caution. Emails known as "spoof" or "phishing" emails can attempt to gain access to your personal information through emails impersonating Buyadate.org, stating that your account has been or will be suspended. These solicitations will often contain links to web pages with a request to sign-in and submit information.

Other account access problems: If your account is blocked due to your registered email address is no longer valid and your account is on hold or suspended, please Contact Us. Be sure to include your new email address and the Profile Name of the blocked account.


Canceling your account

- Sign in to your Buyadate.org account.
- Click the 'My Account' tab located on the top menu bar.
- Click the 'Account Settings' tab located in the submenu.
- Click on 'Cancel Account'.
- An email will be sent to the email address (the same one used as the login name) to verify Account Deletion. Keep in mind, canceling your Buyadate.org account will permanently remove all of your profile information from Buyadate.org, including your photographs, videos, comments, and your personal network of friends. This information cannot be restored. You may re-register with your current email address after canceling, but you will need to rebuild your member profile from scratch.


My Profile

You can make changes to your profile on Buyadate.org from the 'My Account' tab located on the top menu bar.


Editing personal information

- Sign in to your Buyadate.org account.
- Click the 'My Account' tab located on the top menu bar.
- Click the 'Account Settings' tab located in the submenu.
- Click the 'Profile Details' option.
- Through 'Profile Details' you may edit personal information on your profile.

Or you can also edit additional personal details:
- Sign in to your Buyadate.org account.
- Click the 'My Profile' tab located on the top menu bar.
- Click the 'Edit' link located in the Details section of your profile.
- Enter or edit your personal details including name, location, gender, birthday, interests, and personal website links.
- Click the 'Save' button.


Editing profile name

To establish, distinguish, and market your unique identity on Buyadate.org, you may enter your own Profile Name. Your Profile Name is prominently displayed on your public profile. It helps buyers to identify and remember your specific profile easily. Profile Names can be your actual name, or a nick name (maximum 35 characters).

To create or change your Profile Name:
- Sign in to your Buyadate.org account.
- Click the 'My Account' tab located on the top menu bar.
- Click the 'Account Settings' tab located in the submenu.
- Click the 'Profile Details' option.
- Through 'Profile Details' you may edit your Profile Name.
- Click the 'Submit' button.

- Alternatively, you can enter or edit your Profile Name, by clicking the 'My Profile' tab located on the top menu bar, and then clicking the 'Edit' link located in the Details section of your profile.

The following list includes characters and elements you cannot include in a Profile Name:
- The @, !, #, $, %, &, `, <, or > character.
- Spaces or tabs. Tip: You can instead use a hyphen to represent a space.
- Elements that imply an email address or URL
- Consecutive underscores __.
- An underscore _, hyphen -, or period . at the beginning of a Profile Name
- The word Buyadate.
- Profanity or obscene words that violate Buyadate.org's guidelines.
- A term that is similar to, or might be confused with, a third-party's trademark or brand.


Designating a Nonprofit Beneficiary

When a Buyadate.org member seller makes a profit, Buyadate.org gets 5%, of which 3% goes to a nonprofit organization of the seller's choosing. As a member seller you can also increase the amount of profit sharing you wish to contribute (beyond the 3%) to your nonprofit beneficiary, and may even select several nonprofit organizations to share in your profits.

You can use our Nonprofit Resources page, to search the ever growing Buyadate.org nonprofit database and find a nonprofit or charitable cause that appeals to you.

From your My Account page, members can set their account so that it defaults to a particular nonprofit organization (and any additional % sharing), without having to fill in these parameters for each date:
- Click the 'My Account' tab located on the top menu bar.
- Click the 'Designate a Nonprofit' tab located in the submenu.
- Fill in the nonprofit organization name from the Buyadate.org nonprofit database, to serve as your default Nonprofit Beneficiary (of the 3% that Buyadate.org automatically donates). Also fill in any additional % of your profits you wish to share with any nonprofit as a default parameter (and/or additional nonprofits and % sharing).
- Click the 'Submit' button.

Members can also override these default nonprofit sharing settings for any particular date, through the 'Dates Offered' Edit button on your member profile page.
- Click on 'Edit' in the Dates Offered section.
- You will be taken to the Date Manager, where you can select the date you wish to set your Nonprofit Beneficiary details.
- Highlight the date you wish to edit, and then click the 'Edit Selected Date' button, which allows you to customize your Nonprofit Beneficiaries, and how much, you wish to share.


Adding to your profile:


Adding a video to your profile

To add a video, follow these steps:
- Sign in to your Buyadate.org account.
- Click the 'My Profile' tab located on the top menu bar.
- Click the 'Add' link in the Videos section
- Then enter your video description and the URL to your video.
- Check the box certifying that you have the right to distribute the video (and that it abides by the Buyadate.org Terms of Use and Privacy Policy), and click the 'Add Video to Profile' button. If the video is an acceptable URL address, it should display within 10 minutes.


Adding a picture to your profile

Here's how to upload a profile picture:
- Sign in to your Buyadate.org account.
- Click the 'My Profile' tab located on the top menu bar.
- Click the appropriate 'Add' link in the Photos section
- Then enter your photograph description and
- 'Browse' your computer's files to find the appropriate picture.
- Select the photo to upload, check the box certifying that you have the right to distribute the picture (and that it abides by the Buyadate.org Terms of Use and Privacy Policy), and click the 'upload photo.' If the picture is an acceptable size (maximum photo size is 5 MB) and file type, it should display within 10 minutes.


Adding external website links to your profile

Members can create links to their other website profile pages, such as their MySpace, Youtube, Facebook, etc. profiles as a way of sharing further information, pictures or videos.

To add an external website link, follow these steps:
- Sign in to your Buyadate.org account.
- Click the 'My Profile' tab located on the top menu bar.
- Click the 'Edit' link located in the Details section of your profile
- Enter your URL website link or edit the Website links you already have there
- Click the 'Save' button.


Nonprofits - My Account


Forgot your password

- Follow the instructions for changing your password, and answer your security question, and click 'Submit'. You can now log in using your new password.


Account Summary

On the Account Summary page, you can manage your listings, keep track of funds which have been donated to your nonprofit organization, edit your profile, and more. To view this page:
- Sign in to your Buyadate.org nonprofit account.
- Click the 'My Account' tab located on the top menu bar.
- Click the 'Account Summary' tab located in the submenu.

The Account Summary page allows you to view dates that have been submitted on behalf of your nonprofit organization, and are currently live on Buyadate.org.

You may choose to cancel any of these dates. Here's how to cancel an date:
- Click the "Cancel" button to the right of the date you want to cancel.
- On the following page, choose your reason for canceling the date, and click 'Continue'.

Please note that your contact information (name and email address) will be shared with both Buyadate.org and the seller, along with the reason for the cancellation. Your request will be sent to Buyadate.org customer service immediately. You will receive an email from Buyadate.org letting you know when the date has been cancelled.

The Account Summary page also gives you the culmination of how much money you have raised through Buyadate.org, as well as the option to list all the individual donations made to your organization, over a given selection of time.


Edit profile details

You can make changes to your profile on Buyadate.org from your My Account page.
- Sign in to your Buyadate.org nonprofit account.
- Click the 'My Account' tab located on the top menu bar.
- Click the 'Account Settings' tab located in the submenu.
- Click the 'Profile Details' option.
- Through 'Profile Details' you may edit or add to the information on your profile.
- Change the information as you want, and click the 'Save' button.


Updating your bank account information

Here are the steps involved in changing the bank account where we deliver your organization's donations: - Sign in to your Buyadate.org nonprofit account.
- Click the 'My Account' tab located on the top menu bar.
- Click the 'Account Settings' tab located in the submenu.
- Click the 'Profile Details' option.
- Print out this page with your profile information.
- Email us the profile page, together with an attachment of a scanned cancelled check from your new bank account, and the signature of someone authorized to sign checks for your organization. We'll update your account within three business days - you will be able to see the update in your profile once we're done.


Updating your logo

You can update your logo at anytime from Edit My Profile page.
- Sign in to your Buyadate.org nonprofit account.
- Click the 'My Account' tab located on the top menu bar.
- Click the 'Account Settings' tab located in the submenu.
- Click the 'Profile Details' option.
- Simply go to the "Upload Your Logo" field and browse for your organization's logo. Select your desired logo and upload it. Then click the "Submit" button.

Please make sure your logo is in .jpg or .gif format and under 50Kb in size. Your logo must meet these requirements to be accepted by our system.


Updating your mission statement

You can update your mission statement at anytime from Edit My Profile page.
- Sign in to your Buyadate.org nonprofit account.
- Click the 'My Account' tab located on the top menu bar.
- Click the 'Account Settings' tab located in the submenu.
- Click the 'Profile Details' option.
- The Profile Details page allows you to change, update or correct any information in your organization's mission statement. Just type in the new or corrected mission statement in the text box provided, and click the "Submit" button.


Changing email and other preferences

You can update your email address, and other preferences, at anytime from your My Account page.
- Sign in to your Buyadate.org nonprofit account.
- Click the 'My Account' tab located on the top menu bar.
- Click the 'Account Settings' tab located in the submenu.
- Click the 'Change email address' option.
- This page allows you to change the contact email address associated with your Buyadate.org nonprofit account, as well as other preferences, such as password, security question and how/if you're notified when a new date is listed on your organization's behalf.


Canceling your account

- Sign in to your Buyadate.org nonprofit account.
- Click the 'My Account' tab located on the top menu bar.
- Click the 'Account Settings' tab located in the submenu.
- Click on 'Cancel Account' option.
- An email will be sent to the email address (the same one used as the login name) to verify Account Deletion. Keep in mind, canceling your Buyadate.org account will permanently remove all of your profile information from Buyadate.org. This information cannot be restored. You may re-register with your current email address after canceling, but you will need to rebuild your member profile from scratch.
