Suggestions /Tips

Follow some of these suggestions on how to create an excellent profile page, and how to manage /negotiate a good and safe date experience.

General Suggestions

Promote the nonprofit or charitable cause that is benefiting from you: Buyers are more willing to purchase and often pay more for dates that benefit a nonprofit or charity. You can enhance buyer trust and loyalty by aligning with a cause, gain increased exposure, and receive a receipt for your tax-deductible donations.

Member Profile:

Keep it classy, and you will attract a better class of buyers. Help us to maintain a professional website environment, so as to maximize the spectrum of talent/people that can interact with one another. See our Sample Profiles section for the variety of ways that you can utilize your member profile page.

Price:

If you'd like to offset the 5% cost of using the website, merely include it in your price (charge 105% of what you want to make), i.e. if you want to make $1,000 for the date, then charge $1050.

Safe successful dates:

Remember to always be wise, and use good sense in arranging first dates with anyone. Before getting a chance to really know them, public places are most safe when meeting someone new- tell a friend where you are going, bring your mobile phone, and use your own transportation. See our Safety Tips section for ideas on how to manage a safe date experience.

Date negotiations:

Make sure you communicate upfront about any aspects of the date that are unclear or ask what aspects are negotiable, i.e. can buyer bring friends on the date payment methods, being on time, can video tape date, how to verify age, etc.

Be sure to negotiate who will incur the cost of using the agreed upon payment method. Certain payment methods charge a fee, which typically the seller will be charged, unless otherwise negotiated with the buyer and they include it in their payment price (i.e. if the payment method agreed upon is a credit card or PayPal, negotiate upfront who will incur the fee charge for using such payment).

Privacy Settings:

Buyadate.org allows you to have control over your information and who sees it. Adjust your privacy settings to match your level of comfort. You choose what information you put in your profile, including contact and personal information, pictures, interests and groups you join. We provide you with the privacy tools necessary to control how and with whom you share that information. You can control the users with whom you share that information through the privacy/ safety preferences on the My Account page. You can block individuals or you can create a limited profile to hide certain parts of your profile. Block and report anyone that sends you unwanted or inappropriate communications.

Comment settings:

Whether it's a flame war, cyberbullying, or people being just plain mean, comments can get pretty rough sometimes. When you post a profile you can choose whether you want to let people comment on your profile. If someone leaves a comment on your profile that is mean or bothers you, you can always delete the comment. Another option is to set your profile so that you get to approve or remove people's comments before they appear on the site.

Never share your password with anyone:

Remember, Buyadate.org employees will never ask you for your password, email address, or other account information. Don't be fooled if someone contacts you pretending to be from Buyadate.org. Donít get hooked by a phishing scam. Phishing is a method used by fraudsters to try to get your personal information, such as your username and password, by pretending to be a site you trust. Profile Selling Tips

When creating a member profile follow these simple but sometimes overlooked tips to attract more buyers and boost your profits:

Choose a Category and Title:

Increase your profile views- Be sure to include keywords that buyers will search for, unique or descriptive attributes, and always check your spelling. Your date title and description is critical in helping users find your profile and dates offered. Emphasize words that buyers would actually use to search for you or your date.

Add Pictures/Videos:

Include photos and videos on your member profile- A picture is worth a thousand words. And a video gives potential buyers an even better opportunity to view a bit of your charm and appeal. Use clear, well-lit photos and videos to showcase yourself or talents.

Describe Your Date:

Describe your date in detail - A good description is concise, well organized, and easy to read. Create bold section headlines, bulleted lists, and be sure to include date style/type, and other attributes. Think about your listing from the buyer's perspective. The more information you provide, the more likely buyers are to place a bid.

Although remember to avoid accidentally revealing personal information. Be aware of more subtle things as well in jeopardizing your own or other people's privacy - be aware of what's in the scene youíre recording: posters on your wall, photos on a shelf, school or team t-shirts people are wearing, address signs in front of a house or car license-plate numbers can reveal identities and locations.

Select Date Type, Price, and Payment Method:

Select which type(s) of date(s) you are offering and your price. Accept several methods of online payments. Member sellers can choose that all payments are made upfront before the date... or members can negotiate to utilize our Escrow Service which holds the payment until the date is satisfactorily completed. It is up to the members to choose and agree what they prefer. Buyers are more likely to bid on your dates if your payment methods are clearly stated and easy to use.

If you are not accepting dates for certain times of the year, you can set your profile to state not currently accepting offers. Or you could keep a standing offer way above and beyond your ideal price, just to allow for random possibilities to arrive, that might make it worthwhile for you to take an occasional excellently priced date.

Customer Service:

Bring them back with great communication. Respond to buyer requests or emails quickly. The more customer-friendly your interactions, the more you will be able to convert potential buyers into loyal customers. On dates, don't show up late. If you're going to be late, call and let your date know. Don't smoke, give attitude to the wait staff, get too intense about politics or religion, or constantly answer your cellphone while on a date.

Nonprofit Promotion:

Promote the nonprofit or charitable cause that is benefiting from your date. Buyers are more willing to purchase and often pay more for dates that benefit a nonprofit or charity. You can enhance buyer trust and loyalty by aligning with a cause, gain increased exposure, and receive a receipt for your tax-deductible profit sharing with a nonprofit organization or charity. Make the most out of all your charitable contributions- see our Tax Tips section for more details.

Profile Text Suggestions

Realize that your self description is just as important as your photo when it comes to attracting potential dates. What you say about yourself speaks volumes. Keep it light and friendly. Stay positive, being negative will keep potential interested parties from responding to your profile because it sounds too angry. Talk a bit about yourself, your interests, what you enjoy doing, what inspires you.

Remember, refrain from revealing certain home and personal information in your member profile. Don't forget that your member profile and Buyadate.org forums are public spaces. Don't post anything you wouldn't want the world to know (e.g. your phone number, address, or specific whereabouts). Don't post anything that would embarrass you later. Think twice before posting a photo or information you wouldn't want your parents or employers to see.

Spelling errors and grammar represent you, so use spellcheck. Besides spell checking it in your word processor, make sure your punctuation is in good shape and more importantly, do not TYPE IN ALL CAPS. Not only is it hard on the reader's eyes, it's seen as YELLING in internet lingo.

Display humor in your profile. Humor is a big draw to almost everyone. Making someone smile helps you stick out in their mind.

Mention special skills or achievements. If you do volunteer work, love to paint, cook, play an instrument, or participate in anything that someone else can connect with, it's important to list those qualities.

Finally, wrap it all up with an invite, i.e. If you're looking for someone honest, intelligent, and caring to spend time with and enjoy conversation, then let's talk!

Profile Photo Suggestions

A good photograph will get you far. It's always better to show more than one photo of yourself, as it gives people a better idea of what you actually look like. Suggestions: A close up of your face, a full body shot, a candid shot, and an active shot. Quality is important as well. And remember, not posting a photo at all could get you overlooked entirely. Posting videos as well, can help you to display your humor, charm, and appeal.

Statistics prove that people get 10 to 12 times more responses when they post a photograph or video. It doesn't matter if she calls herself a model or if he describes himself as athletic. With a photo or video, there's some proof.

Okay, so you've decided to add a photo. Now you have a few options to consider. Do you go get a glamour shot from the mall? Kinda cheezy. Do you have a friend who's talented behind the camera? A better idea. A friend with a digital camera is even more preferable because then you have less steps from camera to computer. If you already have a great photo of yourself, then you can always get it scanned at a local copier place. They give you an image on a disc, and you upload it onto your computer.

If you do decide to get your pictures taken from scratch, then remember a few important details. Never have your picture taken if you aren't in a really great mood, because it always shows. And have as many taken as many as possible, so you have more to choose from - rest assured, even supermodel shoots work this way. Avoid picking shots that make you appear to be 'trying too hard' and pick ones that are more casual and friendly.
